The first time Tracy O’Hara held her newborn niece, she wanted to wrap her arms around every baby. While volunteering at her church’s food pantry, she thought of a way to achieve her desire. She could collect baby blankets to give to needy mothers to wrap around their children. Tracy named her project “Many Arms Reach You” in honor of her niece, Mary.
Many Arms Reach You, Inc. (M.A.R.Y.) is a non-profit organization established in Fall 2000. The M.A.R.Y. Project collects and donates knitted, quilted or crocheted blankets to disadvantaged mothers and their children. To date over 7,500 blankets have been distributed to local, national and world charities.
When a baby is born to a needy family, quite often the bare
essentials are not available. Wrapping a baby in a blanket made with love
gives them a warm welcome to our world.
